About Us

The Movement for Economic and Social Development in Africa (MESDA) has been established to respond to the humanitarian and developmental challenges in Africa. We achieve this through leadership development, capacity building and sustainable empowerment.

MESDA seeks to unite like-minded stakeholders to establish a network of individuals, professionals, businesses, organisations and institutions that are committed to creating impact and advancing socioeconomic development. This is to be achieved by sharing resources, ideas and collaborating on impactful projects to propel innovation and development while promoting and protecting human rights.

We work with community leaders, professionals, non- profit organisations, governments and businesses across a wide range of sectors, including education, climate change, governance, financial literacy, human rights, health and agriculture.

Our Programatic Areas

We embody our commitment to economic and social development in Africa through operation of the following programs:

Leadership Development (LeD)
We believe that leadership development is critical for economic and social development in Africa.
Business and Human Rights (BHR)
Reports indicate that Africa has the world’s highest rates of entrepreneurship with 22% of Africa’s working age-population running businesses.
Sustainable Empowerment Program (SEP)
Millions of children and families in Africa are struggling with extreme poverty, hunger and a lack of access to basic needs.
